CoastWatch - Out on the Wrasse Empty
PostSubject: CoastWatch - Out on the Wrasse   CoastWatch - Out on the Wrasse EmptyThu Aug 26, 2010 11:26 pm

Wednesday.

CoastWatch - Out on the Wrasse Coastwatch002

A quick hour over mid-day High at The Yellow House on shop lug didn't produce,
nor did it for the guy to my right who'd fished Low and High ( using mackerel)

Thursday
Back to Kinmel Bay before 6am. Wind in the East.

CoastWatch - Out on the Wrasse Coastwatch003

No takers for my fresh pumped lug.

Grrrr! Need to catch fish!

Only one thing for it -a quick bacon buttie;
a re-supply at Geoffs
and head for the island -out on the Wrasse!

Arriving in Holyhead decided the breakwater was a bit predictable,
a spur of the moment diversion and discovered Porth Dafarch.

Picked a path at random -

If I'd known Mackerel Rock was across the bay I'd have taken a closer look

Ramblers, seals, swimmers, dinghies, kayaks, rock climbers and coasteerers -
it was all going off!

Lost a load of lead and a float kit for just one hook up -and that got off.

Loads of small wrasse from the end

- most falling to bits of rag on a small hook rigged off a 3-way swivel
and barely a 1/4 oz of lead strip to sink it.

No sorry, I barely knew where I was!
Porth Dafarch is a great little place, I didn't photograph the sandy bit but it's clearly a
popular sun trap, sheltered and with decent public toilets next to the beach side parking.
