Rhyl. Sunday 4.1.2009
Ian had passed on some lug after our 1 January blank hunt and they’ve been slowly getting nice and sticky so thought I’d saunter up to the beach and try to scoop a quick dab.
Would it be all 4.1 or none for Paul?
Well with The Maestro reporting another biteless 5 hours yesterday I didn’t anticipate speed fishing and opted to go light.
Started at Low in front of The Pavilion, first cast snagged fast (weed I think) that exceeded the light gear’s limits and cost me a rig. I put on another, this time with a weak link on the lead - and immediately anchored to some unseen trap again, but only lost the lead this time.
With the tide rushing in I made a hurried exit through the gully, retreating to various points between the green triangles...
...where I was bothered by neither weed nor bites.
Two and a half hours ended with rain and only photos to show for it, if there were any dabs about they kept well under my radar. Not exactly headline news but good to be out and the time passed in a flash…
Stop Press: Arrive Alive van on the prom!
Bet he caught more than I did.
