It was almost a spring day, 1C overnight and a good mist until 10 am, then warming to 16C. I had to take Judy to Helensville for her morning at the Citizens Advice Bureau, so could not go fishing until I colected her at 1pm.
All packed, a quick drop off at our gate, and OFF.
High was at 2-45, so I only had an hour of the incoming tide. Four others at the end of the rock so I stayed back on the north side and straight in to my first Kahawai.
A fine warm afternoon, with only the odd variable breeze, about 1M swell and partly overcast.
I finished with four Kahawai all smallish, a good trevally and a good red gurnard.
As is often the case, while I was there my spot well outfished the front of the rock, I caught more than the other 4 together and missed a few bites. All quiet by 5-30, so a few photos then home.
We get many photographers catching the surfers and or the sunsets.
A baby NZ fur seal by the steps off the rock. An Asian fisherman was trying to feed it, highly illegal.
