| I've just purchased two and a half litres from Decathalon. I've made a large cage feeder out of wire mesh. I'm going to have a go using it with my beachcaster as sea ground bait with boiled rice and breadcrumbs. I know that sardine oil has a strong scent and spreads in the water a long way. The sea can be hit and miss, depending on what is swimming in the area,so, a nice scent trail may be the answer. It works on rivers and lakes ect,so why not in the sea? The lead in the swimfeeder acts as the weight. They are easy to make and can be attached with a link swivel clip. Probably ideal on piers and breakwaters as well. I've fished Hoyhead breakwater in the past but the catches have been poor, yet I think we all know there are fish in there.Maybe have some success with the swimfeeder? Mackerel should be drawn in by it,and with the mackerel come the bigger predators. |

| So far as I am aware the breakwater is still open. Stena do not have all the permission they need yet. This consultation closes in a week ... https://ymgynghori.cyfoethnaturiol.cymru/marine-morol/holyhead-breakwater-refurbishment-scheme/ I still have some old pouches of cat food for my own swimfeeder experiment. Might try freezing some down inside some plastic tubing. Gaffer tape it onto the line |

| Solid pva bags will be the most suitable, you can put your weight in the bag with the bait. Any wet bait will melt the bag,but I think oil and oily bait doesn't effect it.
There are also bait droppers that you can fill with any bait. They open when the hit the seabed. They are temporarily attached by threading the hook thro' the loop on the dropper. Some large sized ones on the bay at the moment for about £6.50.Probably best suited to pier/harbour/breakwater,because you reel the empty dropper back in after it has emptied, then cast back to the spot you baited without it. |

This is my concern with cat food and pva bag combination. I will be looking to cast out as quick as I can. |

Seeing as it's a scent trial that we want,Cat food would be ideal. Attaching the bag up about a foot from the hook with a loop and link swivel should do the deed. Probably be able to refill the bags a few times a session. Doubling up the mesh bags might help. |
