Cracking Day Empty
PostSubject: Cracking Day   Cracking Day EmptyWed Jun 16, 2021 5:39 pm

Had a trip out on the boat on Tuesday. The sun was shining and the sea was as flat as a pancake. The boat pured  along, we cruised out to Constable Bank on a mark about 500 meters in front of the wind turbines 60 to 70 feet of water. No shortage of fish straight in on the mackerel and some big enough for the BBQ, we both caught 2 Thornback Rays a splattering of whiting, Dabs and Dog fish, one of the pictures is Paddy on a double Doggy with a Whiting in one hit. Another glorious day out on the Irish Sea.

Yes we do use big hook on one of our lines with a whole mackerel live bait, the target fish was Tope follwed by Bull Huss, but a Thornback is a nice treat. In the past we found the Bull Huss have a preference to a mackerel that has been frozen and the Tope like the live one,s.

I've never done it,but I fancy the deep water just off Puffin island on your side of the island.
I've fished for Bass of Puffin island, but it was like shopping in a supermarket with all the boats. lol!
