| A few days ago I was given a Storm Glass, can't say I'd heard of them before. According to Robert FitzRoy, hydrographer, meteorologist, and captain of HMS Beagle during Darwin's voyage, instruments known as storm glasses were being made in England for more than a century before he published The Weather Book in 1863: “Who was the inventor is now uncertain. The liquid within the glass is a mixture of several ingredients, commonly distilled water, ethanol or vodka, potassium nitrate, ammonium chloride, and camphor. This specific mixture was promoted by Admiral Robert FitzRoy but similar devices existed earlier in Italy, France and Germany. It's had a few days to settle in, so does it work? 5pm Saturday Evening 20 Feb it's been a rainy day, wind 15mph gusting to 30mph from the South, the letter box flap is rattling! The Storm Glass currently looks like this I'm uncertain but read this as frost but windy??? South Wales has weather warnings and flooded rivers XCWeather for Rhyl was forecasting the largely Southerly wind will drop from about 15mph steady to 5mph steady over the next 24 hours with the temperature fluctuating around 8 lowest overnight 5 and some rain ( .2 to .6mm) from about mid day tomorrow to 3pm. I couldn't recall where my hygrometer is but my Barometer read I'll see how it goes! _________________ we call it fishing not catching!

| That’s a novel peace of kit should be fun seeing if it works and a good talking point even if it doesn’t. |

| Well that highly tuned weather instrument, the letterbox flap stopped rattling by midnight. The barometer has moved somewhat, and as for the Storm Globe I think the chains of crystals look a little different at 5pm tonight. ( maybe) _________________ we call it fishing not catching!

| Well here in Sunny Rhyl it lived up to the name today, no wind, the sea was like a glass sheet and you'd think Summer was here. The barometer continued to move clockwise and as the day moved on towards 5pm the crystals settled at the bottom of the Storm Glass, Dang, does this thing actually work aftetall? _________________ we call it fishing not catching!

| Hanging up some seaweed is supposed to help forecast the weather, I just checked mine and it has blown away confirming that today has indeed been very windy ( and wet ) I would've imagined the barometer would have dropped further than it actually has Puzzled by the lack of a rattle from the letterbox flap it turned out the free newspaper was wedged in it! So what info is stored in the cloud today? not easy this weather forecasting lark! _________________ we call it fishing not catching!

Reception varies on account of my plan to make a fortune by a novel design for a tv aeriel combined with a weather vane. I'm finding potential investors are blowing hot and cold due to market swings. _________________ we call it fishing not catching!
