Hello People Empty
PostSubject: Hello People   Hello People EmptyFri Jan 01, 2021 9:54 pm

Hi folks,
I have checked the place out many times over the last few years. I thought I may as well finally join and say hello as it's always seemed friendly on this forum.
I have a feeling I may have met Notbad once on Llandudno pier and he was telling me about the method he used to catch an 8 lb bass off there. It could have been the day that ferry turned up but it might not and may have been another time if it was indeed Notbad.
I have met a lad called Wormy as well who told me his mate set this forum up. I've met him once at the wall at llandudno then a few times subsequently buying lug off him and then a few years after, totally randomly, when he drove his car up the walk way to cod corner and parked up to fish lol Laughing
I've met Degs off here a few times over the last few years and I met Dyl at Gimlet rock this summer for the first time.
I've exchanged some replies with other members such as Headwyn on the World Sea Fishing forum over the years too.
Bit of a strange time to join I guess but never late than never Very Happy

Welcome Tim,as you have probably noticed it's gone very quiet on here with the lockdown.
I have no doubts it will get busy again when it's over.

All the best

Hi Timbc2,

thanks for joining and for saying hello its much appreciated.

I used to fish Llandudno Pier ( been quite a while) and sometimes "the wall"
though I can't recall catching a Bass off there, I do recall our founder Fairziff catching a Bass off North Shore that was probably at least 8lb one night at a former TSF forum meet a few years ago.

8lb is about my PB Bass though ( one off the boat you see in my avatar and another same weight  off Splashpoint at night.)

When all this is over a forum meet would be good.

Hopefully fewer fishing might mean more 8lbrs  cth

Cheers for the welcome. Yes it's a bugger as I am landlocked unfortunately so stuffed on the sea angling front at the moment.

Cheers Blade, I'm a shore fisherman but I like to keep in touch with what the boat guys are catching as sometimes they can be an early indicator of things turning up. Like if Gethyn Owen starts catching smoothies then it's worth a trip over to Anglesey for a go off the shore.

My first sea fishing experiences were off the wooden boat my dad built. It was based on the design of a whaler, named Moby Fabulous  and painted green. We used to fish around Holyhead Bay in it. Used to catch some good codling and pollack near Nimrod rocks and the german grain ship wreck, which I think, but could be wrong is called the Azmund or Azimuth or something like that.

Thanks for the welcome.

Boat but really close to the shore. Just outside Rhyl harbour at low, daylight and in just a few feet of water.

Maybe just confusion over the Bass, I've been using that red Fladen  jacket for at least 12 years - the wear is starting to show but they are very tough  it is still perfectly useable and does the job well. I always like seeing Fladen jackets in use in harsh situations like commercial fishing documentaries. I also have a ( quite rare?) camouflage Fladen Floatie bought off Fleabay with Piking in mind.  Some say camo will catch on but for safety  when fishing out on the sand banks I just can't see it myself...

Hi there Tim, I might as well add my half penny worth as there is not much to report on the fishing front, I live in New Zealand and have been here nearly 50 years. I used to fish around the N. Wales coast 50 years ago, started at Rhyl when I was still in Mold Grammar school ( my dad worked in Rhyl, hence my interest in Sunny Rhyl). I mainly fished the estuary there for flounder. When I was old enough for a motor scooter I started fishing around Bangor, staying at the Youth hostel there.
At present I have a broken leg, and so though we have no restrictions here apart from no foreign travel, I am stuck at home for a while. The international fishing reports are mostly mine. I am an outside member courtesy of the forum moderators. I fished with a couple of members a few years ago when i was in N wales.
So, welcome Tim.

Hi Folks,
Bear with me as I explain myself - I was a tackle dealer in Manchester for 35 years, many of those (15 years) supplying black lug and sea baits to the sea anglers in the Manchester area - my question is that I used to deal with a great bait digger/pumper called Derek Andrews and would like to know what happened to him, as I lost touch when my business changed direction to carp fishing in the 90's.
Ironically, I have re-found a new lease of life with sea angling after a holiday in Rhosneigr this year, rooting-out my old ZZiplex 2500, Abu 7000c, etc and look forward to some shore fishing this/next year - any help appreciated.
