| I'm making up some 'slow jig rigs' Some of the materials are hard to find,I had to get the solid 10mm rings from Jersey, and finding the hook length cords was even harder. They are a bit of a patience job to make up,but they are having huge successes with them worldwide.Hence the high prices of them. I got some 20mmx 3mm aluminium flat bar for the body. I've got patterns drawn with French curves for the shapes. They need to be narrower at both ends, wider in the middle so they give a floating/flutter effect when they are slow jigged. Mine are twin hooked. The hooks themselves don't attach to the lure, they go straight to the mainline by attaching to the solid ring, which is also attached to the lure by a split ring. The eyes of the hooks are inline with the hook curve, not crossways like normal hooks. |

| Would be interesting to see the finished article and hear how they perform.
I bought some ready tied assistor hooks off fleabay, thought they might be handy to improvise something similar if the need arose. |

| Very popular over here, also inchiku jigs and a host of different style jigs that seem to come from Japan, They seem weird but they work. You may need to downsize for UK waters as most bottom fish there are small |

I watch a couple of vidio's with people using a inchiku jig and with your information on them I have ordered one, its not arriving until Feb, hopefully the do not leave home lockdown will be relax by then and I will be able to get back out to sea and give the jig try out, I will let you known how I get on when I get back out there. |

| Be handy to have first hand results in N Wales waters. Looking forward to your post on them. Looks like I won't be able to cross the Welsh border for quite a while with the lockdown. Although I prefer N Wales,I may have to give Blackpool a coat of looking at. |

| That's handy to know about Blackpool.I had in mind to try just south of the south pier. How far out is the 'Gut Buoy'? I can't see this summer as a possibility for N Wales, even if people have had the jab, probably because of the time it takes to show any effects. Be like having a new present when they open the borders Did you launch at Blackpool,or did you sail over from Rhyl? |

Did you launch at Blackpool,or did you sail over from Rhyl? I used to live in Merseyside and moored my boat on a pontoon in Douglas Boat Yard, Hesketh Bank. The gut bouy is about 2 miles out from the mouth of the river ribble, south of Blackpool offshore from Lytham St Anne's see the attached link for its location. I catch more fish in North Wales, they just keep coming. I moved my boat to Rhyl in Sept 2013 and them moved to Kinmel Bay when I retired in 2015 to be near the boat and what a great place live, I aslo like hill walking. http://www.douglas-marine.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/approachmapnew.jpg |

That's dead handy,I've saved it for future reference, thanks. I have to trailer my boat, from Manchester, which is about 55 miles, the trip to Rhyl is about 75-80. With the launching times at Rhyl (2.5 hrs either side of high,)it takes a bit of planning, and restricts when it's possible. The next best place is Conway,or at the straits, which adds on the time and mileage. With a tractor launch at Blackpool,I can launch at any state of the tide. Been up Kinder scout,Ben Mc Dui,the Cairngorm,in my younger days.Swam in the lock at Avimore, bit cold on the kidneys. |
