Hi all new to the forum glad to be here, I am primarily a coarse angler but really want to catch some mullet, fished for them on weymouth harbor years ago on holiday with very little success and always been fascinated by them.

Hello,and welcome to the forum.
Mullet are not easy to catch,it takes a lot of dedication and patience.
You will often see them cruising around, but they are finicky on taking a bait.
Once you hook one they scream off like a torpedo, and it's game on.
It would probably be worthwhile to take two rods one for the Mullet, and one for some normal sea fishing.I find Mullet fishing a bit frustrating, and never bother fishing for them.
Carp rods and fixed spool reels will do the deed for most sea fishing.
Don't forget, you need a shock leader because you will snap of easily with line of a normal strength. There's nothing like a 4oz weight flying off in any direction at 300mph.
Good luck,and tight lines.
