Seaforth Monday Night

Easy to say after the event but I felt really confident on the walk up to Seaforth beach as we finally had a favourable light breeze.....started 3 hours before low using 2 rods with dropper and loop rigs and was soon in to whiting and dabs on Ainsdales finest...as another couple of lads made their way down I had a good take and a 3.5lb codling was landed...had 4 all together all of decent size....after getting too many dabs I launched a full dirty squid out on an up n over in search of a lunker and 10 mins later I had a good thump and slack line...tightened up and the rod was pulling like a goodun. ...my heart was in my mouth as it felt like the cod I'd been hoping for and it was clear from 30 yds out that this was a big cod....taking my time I slowly walked back up the beach to land it,praying it would stay on and it did but it wasn't the cod I'd hoped for but a 9lb3oz conger!! Nice fish but I've never been so disappointed to land a 9lb fish ha....really enjoyed the final session of the year and just hope January will bring more north westerlies...
