| Allways providing I have caught any fish, I will update this monthly. I will only put scientific names for those I did not post last year. The card is 17cm long and from now, laminated. January Snapper Kahawai Yellow eye mullet Kelp fish or Hiwihiwi (Maori name) Chironemus georgeanus The kelp fish lives around weed and rocks especially where there is rough water, the pectoral fins are thick and strong with fingerlike fillaments along the bottom that they use to hang on to the rocks, they can sit up on these to look around. They are a nuisance, very agresive feeders, nearly allways swallow the hook, and have hard rubbery mouths. Mostly accidental by-catch, though targetted by some Island and Asian communities. |
