| I was planning a day out on the yak today but I had a short notice invite to fish on a friends boat , I didn't have to think twice about having a motor on the back instead of paddle power! Wayne's a member of prestatyn sailing club so it was a nice easy tractor launch at the start of the ebbing tide, the plan was to fish for the bass for a few hours then to fish for the hounds with a few crab we had between us. We where using soft plastics and redgills on light gear for the bass, the 1st hour was fruitless but a change of lure brought me good luck, my 1st bass of the year was landed, about 4lb Wayne was in next with a fish about 3lb, and then I had another tiny one, a few of the boats had a few but it was pretty quite on the bass front, at one point there were 10 boats drifting the same grounds! We moved on after a while and dropped the anchor over the rough ground, out went the crab baits and we were instantly into the hounds, we must of had 20-30 between us by the end of the afternoon. Was an enjoyable day out and change of scenery

| Looks like you are getting it right Dan,nice one. I know it can be bad there because of the algae,I think the Dee is a lot of the cause of it. Fished the shallow sandbanks there with a mate from the club, plenty of Bass when there is no algae. |

| That's good news about the Algae Dan,it's been putting me off launching at the club. I've got a mate that's a member,I can't remember if they launch non members at the club with the tractor. (I think they charge £25) The tides don't matter too much at prestatyn, and launching at Rhyl next week I would have to launch 2hrs after high, and stay out for 7.5hrs,that's a long day with travelling from Manchester and back, and I'm no spring chicken. My mate's a dab hand with the Tractor. |
