Sorry no pics, turned into hard work for all the wrong reasons!
Weather- check, rain 11pm according to met office and bbc, wind 14mph for the duration give or take.
Bait- Pick up on route
Off we go, set off at 3pm with a plan to be fishing for 4:40ish down the the 7pm low. Not a long session but enough as littlun didn't want to go and boy was he letting me know (new xbox game)
Took longer than expected due to Liverpool traffic, as we approached the Wallesey tunnel the threatening clouds burst literally, came out the other side and it was persisting it down. Arrived at the tacklebox in New Brighton for some fresh lug which are far better than what I get at my local
.
Had to sit in the car for a few mins as coat was in the boot as it was bucketing down and I wasn't feeling brave enough to get out.
Drove down to Perch Rock car park, its was absolutely heaving but found a spot. Had a quick look but couldn't see anyone fishing but visibility was poor given the weather...
2p machines it was in the local arcade, £10 lighter in the pocket but a lolly and a pencil rubber heavier (spoils of war). Plan was to distract James and keep him happy until the rain buggered off, came outside and it was spitting...grrr. Not that I would melt as I'm a wizard not a witch but Jimbobins had his mind now back on his game....waited 5 mins in the car and the rain stopped, he was quite sure that the rain would come back full force and wash us out to sea and we should leave immediately for our own safety. Not a chance, we have not come this far to give up.
Got in place just to the right of the Green bouy for 6pm, one guy was fishing to my right and a group people to my left. had an hour until low, only fished one rod in case the heavens open again. First cast double header, and the bites and fish continued. Dabs were all Morrison's size and there were some good size whiting and a few diddy ones (5-6 inch), this lasted for 45 mins, 15 mins to low it went dead. Jimbobbins at this point was rolling around on the floor telling me he was cold and bored, I had a tshirt and jumper only as he was wearing my jacket and coat at this point to emphasize how cold and bored he was. Luckily the same people that said it would be free of rain got the wind wrong and I wasn't totally frozen as it was barely a breeze.
Long story short, if it hadn't rained I think it would have been a really busy two rod session.
He said the lolly was really good, should be too at that price.
