Several weeks ago an invite from Joker to fish his lake took me all of a second to except but getting a morning when we were both free was a little more difficult but today was the day
The weather forecast wasn't good but we'd waited long enough for this opportunity and a bit of rain and wind was not going to stop us
As luck would have it we were completely sheltered from the wind but nothing could keep the rain from falling on us apart from our brollys
We used Sweetcorn for bait on our tiny size 14 barbless hooks which were tied to 3lb line
As a sea angler who's never done any fresh water fishing before I couldn't believe how light the gear was
After some coaching by Joe I was soon having fun catching Rudd but he had managed to catch 5 Rudd and a Golden Orf which he's christened 8 Ball due to it's markings before I'd even caught one
Rain continued to fall for pretty much the whole 4 hours we were there but it certainly didn't bother the fish as we caught 30 plus between us and missed many more
As we watched our floats with the rain making ripples all across the lake and waiting for the moment to strike we couldn't help but watch the electric blue Damsel fly's and colourful Dragon fly's darting around the waters surface along with the multi coloured fry just below the surface from the shelter of our big green brollys which was not only pleasurable to see but also resulted in lots of missed bites
All to soon my time was up so after my 20th last cast we packed up the rods and had a look in the keep net at what we'd caught, Rudd, Common Carp, Golden Orf, Green Tench and a Gold fish
Not only a great new fishing experience with an old mate but five new species for the hunt too
Unfortunately at the end of the session the damp conditions got to my camera so some pics didn't come out too clearly for my species hunt post but there just about recognisable
Thanks Joe for a truly memorable few hours I'm quite hooked now and I'm looking forward to going again soon, hopefully when the sun's out

Great report mate weather was horrible but on the other hand you seemed to take to coarse fishing like a natural cant wait for the next time mate
