| The best worm in Rhyl are in front of the sun centre, or to the East of Splash Point. you would be well advised to take a walk down there and watch someone who knows what they are doing with one, it could save you hours of anguish. my first pump ended up in a skip about 30 years ago `cos I couldn`t get the hang of it. I eventually got another one and learned how to use it properly, then couldn`t believe how easy it can be. |

| I'm rubbish at it but suction is all important, watch for the sand blanching as you pump, if doesn't blanche it ain't right, take a bottle of washing up liquid with you to keep the barrell lubricated, check the nut on the end doesn't come loose and end up in the sand ( might be secured with a cotter pin) ideally I think you should slacken the nut after use and tighten it before use, if the pump is new the washer should be ok but they wear out and lose suction
Those who know read how wet the sand is, how the wind dries the top layer and the effect of the air pressure, I just go to the tackle shop! |

| Big tides at low water ( anything below a 1.5mtr they say) watch the tide coming in behind you, practice really does make perfect when it comes to pumping lug, best to go for a walk without the pump and see what the others are doing and learn the right casts to pump and how there doing it,it looks very easy but to get to that stage can be very frustrating and some of the best pumper so are not that helpful, partly because they want to keep the worm bed to themselves but partly because they know you can only learn this by doing it,good luck with the pump |
