| Decided to fish mostyn today and try for a coddo ,with being a big tide I didn't won't fish the channel as I wouldn't have much time fishing before the pull would be to strong ..so fished two hour either side of high in the bay ..joining me was a joiner from work ,who is a mad keen carp fanatic ! And wonted to see why I bang on to him al the time at work about sea fishing lol !.. His farther in law and his mate where joining us to as they've never fished mostyn and where keen to pick my brains .. I told them two our three hook flappers with size 1 and lugworm baits tipped with squid will keep there rods nodding for all the species .. I used one rod and borrowed dan my bass rod .. First hour was very slow then an hour before high I had a stonking rattle on my lug and mussel... Was deffo a coddo but come of on the retrieve ...so I beefed my baits up to size 3.0 mussel baits and went all out for coddling then not long after that I missed another bite . Not going be my day today as coddo normaly hang them selves lol. Then high come and bites dried up apart from little pins rattling the tip ..Steve lost a nice plaice on rag worm just as he was lifting out the water and it was gone ,doohhhhhh ..then all three lads had a flattie at the same time lol dans first ever sea fish a dab .. Dave's first fish from mostyn lol that's fishing !! And Steve's flattie three species of flatties all caught a same time .. My apprentice young dan Then they had a few pins then sod me again my lug and big mussel baits on varivas big mouth extras .. My rod had another violent tug held the rod ,it went hard again .struck and sod all .. Feeling feed up by now as I know the tides was going back fast and that was my last chance ..not my day big fat zero for me , but three very happy anglers left me to go back home . And my young mate dan loved it !! With the lads gone home I still fancied a coddo so I went to talacre a quick buttie and a brew I chilled for an hour then made my way to my mark.. I usually fish way right of the light house in the deep dee channel put with all my frozen lug and mussel all used up ,I went to left of the light house ,because I know it will be full of blacks on a good tide , but also no it's one hell of a mud bath!! ..but with fresh bait I hoped for something better than dabs from this mark as it's given me nice flounder and schoolies before ..word of warning if you fish here fish in daylight first as it's very muddy.. and muddy gullies and can be a death trap if you don't know it !! On a flooding tide you've been warned .. With a good hundred yard chuck I was getting in the channel and blacks where plenty full ..fishing a two hook flapper size ones and a semi circle varavis size four as a Pennel my rig hardly settled and the tip never stopped nodding for three hours fishing with treble and quad shots lol . Had two quad shots had about forty dabs and two pins . Was starting really get feed up with it !! Till next time .... |

| Well done on a good report and a nice set of pictures Tim. It's a shame you can't spread the fish about to the days you blank but that's fishing you have to take the rough with the smooth. |
