It was a choice between sitting in the caravan all evening after work or fishing the Drigg Scar over low water with the half a pack of lug I had in the freezer.... Tough call but the beach won
So off I went with my light Bass rod, two flatty rigs, a 2oz gripper and a 3oz plain and hoped that would do
It did
I was having to be economical with my bait seeing how I'd left my bait pump at home this week and 5 or 6 lug don't go far so each worm was cut in two which was plenty on the small hooks
First three casts were into some calm water next to the rocky scar, thinking the water might be slightly deeper here but as there were no bites I moved 30yrds to my left where there was a little surf putting some life into the clear water as it came over a small sand bank
Five minutes into the first cast in this new spot gave me a nice plump flounder just as the tide was turning to flood the beach
Two casts later another Flounder but much smaller this time but still fun on the light gear
Both fish went for the top hook of the one up one down rig, I often find this to be the case but cant think why as both baits must both be on the bottom in such shallow water
Unfortunately both fish went back along with the hook they had swallowed as they were to deep to get out without killing the fish but hopefully they'll survive
Last worm last cast and a Dab fell for the beaded bait On the bottom hook this time Is it possible there going for the meatier top half of the worm and not the half with the tail
It was only a short session but great fun all the same
Thanks Stevo for sorting the pics out
