| Bit worrying that I've heard that fish contain mercury due to the polluted seas and eating to much fish can be very bad for you but never heard of metal in crabs |

| Interesting, it is a wonder there aren't more metal traces, as lead was mined at Halkyn, and where we lived near Hendre, the woods near us were littered with mine shafts and air shafts apparently linked to the Halkyn mine. These were on the Alun River flowing into the Dee. The Halkyn lead mines were used during the war to store art works. The Great Orm and Parrys mountain on Anglesea have been mined for copper for thousands of years. I don't think the environment was much of a worry then We had a "political" scare here some 20 years ago when Australia banned imports of tope meat caught in our local harbour because of supposedly high levels of mercury, this put a couple of longline boats out of business. I don't know why they bothered, it was only Australians at risk! If any of you keen hunters want to catch tope , come here in the summer, our harbour is full of the bloody things, many with lip piercings. |
