| Hello all,
I have finally got my passwords sorted and can now post! Hurruh! I read this forum everyday and enjoy what is said. good bunch of lads it seems! My name is matt and i live 2mins away from the Ffrith. I have just moved here with my wife and children who are local after leaving the army after 12 hard years service. As i didnt grow up here, i know absolutley no one and would like to get on with the shorefishing the coast can offer. i look forward to posting regularly and meeting some of you all on the beach sometime!
Matt. (ouchthathurt) |

| Hi Matt,
Welcome to Sunny Rhyl
We don't get many reports from the Frith but it could be well worth trying.
Hope you can pop along on Saturday and say hello!

| Thanks all,
unfortunatley, work will be getting in the way on saturday. however as for a report on the Ffrith? That i can do. the darling wife told me to get out and hit the beach, so after a quick lug pump session after dropping the kids off at school, i respooled and regreased the multipliers and tied a gew clipped down two hook paternosters to use on the evening tide. the mother in law came over which meant i didnt get to the beach until 1945 so i had well and truly missed the tide but still, better than corrie so i set up both rods, (shakespeare agility surf mx with abu garcia 6500c hi-speed multis)with my pre-tied clipped paternosters and baited with fresh pumped lug and put one out at approx 80yrds and one at the 100yrd mark. the tide was falling away gently with no wind and a gentle swell on occasion. the sun was setting the gulls roosting and the water was quickly vanishing! I headed to a stone groyne and walked to the end and recast again from there as it put me a good 10-15yrds into the sea and every little helps as the tide was falling very fast off the sandbanks. I put both rods out at about 80-90yrds and quickly got a few rattles which were likely to be crabs as my bait wasnt lasting long before being ragged. i tried feeling for bites by hand and felt that "drawing" sensation a crab makes when grabbing the bait and using the tide to drift downtide while holding your baited hook. Another rattle signalled more interest which yielded a dab of just under 1lb which i was well chuffed with considering the bait (poor worms off the Ffrith - very small) and the missing of the tide. i put the beachcasters away when bait got low and got my bass rod out and experienced the sheer joy of standing in a (small in this case) surf in waders holding a bass rod feeling for bites? Trying for schoolies/bass in the twilight (it was 2200 at this point) no luck... still no welsh bass this year, but they will come when theyre ready. not found many peelers yet either butvthey are not gonna be common in the Ffrith i suppose. that was it, time for home for a beer. endex. |
