| Well done chaps we went down on Friday to see a mate had a look at one or two spots & decided not to bother fishing that wind was a bit stronger than predicted I think. There sure are some idiots in this world to put bands on fish like that god knows what they think it achieves |

| Just googled rubber bands on dogfish and found a thread about a dog fish found at Bray Head County Wicklow Eire,
Assuming that the fish are not crossing the Irish Sea could there be another explanation?
One possible explanation put forward was the using of rubber bands to secure dead or live bait to a hook, doggies like fish baits so could there be something about the way doggies take the bait that ends up with the band around them?
Are bands used in any kind of pots they might raid?
Or is it indeed just sickos?

| I was told it was the potters that were putting them on to try and prevent them from re entering the pots (they do carry the bands) but don't think a dog fish would link the discomfort from the band to the last pot it wheat into
Was also told that anglers were putting these on to cause distress as all sharks give off stress signals and it's suppose to stop other sharks from feeding in that area this lowering the doggy catch rate (???? You can catch three dogfish on the same rig???) but I did see part of a documentary about sharks feeding and sensing blood for miles and coming in but when they added shark blood to the water all the sharks dissapered totally this made me think of these bands at the time
Also told that anglers put them on just to see how many could be re caught and it didn't matter because it was only a dogfish think these are purposely put on as the ones I've seen and heard about are all in the last gill and are so tight they start cutting in to the tough skin and think if it was bait bands it would get stuck in the first one, someone out there knows |

| As an angler who believes in conservation so much I blank on purpose from time to time ( ) But if I wished to put a band on a doggy as marker I would put it around his tail and certainly not around his gills Not that I'd do such thing anyway. I wonder how long an elastic band would survive in the water before perishing Longer than a fish I hope |
