Saturday morning arrived & Andrew & myself set off for Whitby after first making the detour to pick Blakey up from Bradford arriving an hour before low hoping for the sea to build as predicted it was a beautiful clear day but very cold & windy.First job some fish & chips then off on to the pier( boy was it wild & freezing on there ) there were two lads on the end already their uptiding trip had been cancelled only boat going out & back was a pleasure cruise so they were trying the pier as the tide rose they couldn't hold out so they went back down the pier leaving us to the end come five O'Clock time a few micro cod rockling & a scorpion started coming up then dabs & small billet great I thought its wakening up but nothing for me .Then a couple of hours later I had just re-baited & chucked a fresh donkey choker consisting of whole squid cart mussel & half a dozen lug & hey presto rod was bouncing like a good un & I wound in my first codling off the pier after two winters trying to get one only a small one but it made my day thought I had a monster once over but turned out to be a load of kelp end result was Andrew a rockling Blakey a 1lb-3oz whiting & a nice dab me one codling the other lads on the pier end had a few codling's too fish photos didn't come out very good this time though. So a very wild & cold session but fair enjoyed it roll on the next

Hip, hip, hooray!
Great to hear, a fish doesn't have to be big to mean a lot!
