Apologies for being a little late in posting this report which is about a month old, but I had problems getting it to load onto the site from down under?? Here goes:-
Whilst recently visiting my 2 sons who now live permanently in Oz, we decided to have a quick off-the-rocks fishing session. The venue was close to Apollo Bay which is inbetween Melbourne and Adelaide on what's known as the Great Ocean Road.
The 20 minute walk from car park down to the rocks, was on a dirt track through a gum-tree forest. The fragrant smell from the ecalyptus trees was sweet & strong in the 30c afternoon sun. My son was at the front with a fishing friend who was showing us the mark. They suddenly stopped to let a 5' long tiger snake slide off the track - a quick hospital job if you stepped on one of those but thankfully they are more scared of us, so will disappear quickly!
The little rock lined deserted bay was beautiful and well worth the walk. The peace only being disturbed by crashing waves and the rosellas, parakeets and kookaburras calling to each other in the treetops. Using a cocktail of squid and tuna strips, we were all quickly into fish - mostly wrasse similar to ours and up to around 3lb. When the flood started, the odd snapper and sweep started to show. The 3 which I caught were all in-size , so we barbequed them that night - particularly impressed with the red snapper.
One of those rare special fishing days which you tend to always remember:)
