Four of us set off to Whitby yesterday at 4am straight into the singing kettle on arrival for breakfast then Whitby angling for squid odds & sods to make rigs for the day then off on to trot on 2 couldn't believe it only seven of us with a whole cat for ourselves.Absolutely gorgeous weather & a sea like a Mill pond so off we went stopped to fish our first wreck eighteen miles out first drop with a shad provide a small pollack for me & one or two small codling came up too.Great! i thought its going to be a good one but a couple of hours & few more drifts nothing much else was coming up so off we went again five mile further another wreck again just odd fish so another two mile to another wreck.Again very steady then as slack arrived i had three codling on the trot & others were coming up along with coalies & odd pouting then i hooked the wreck that broke my run we did try one more wreck on the way back in but alas nothing more great to get out again though Dave's biggest of the day which won him a fiver off everyone spawny sod

Good report and nice pictures sounds a great day, but 4am is a bit early. Are the fish awake at that time in the morning?
