Tripping Out With Tony Empty
PostSubject: Tripping Out With Tony    Tripping Out With Tony EmptySun Sep 08, 2013 6:20 pm

Took a ride out with Tony today aboard Jensen 2.
The sea was a little choppy but soon settled down and there were outbreaks of sun followed by some heavy showers which didn't dampen
our spirits as the cheerful banter and seaman's tales kept flowing and a laugh was had by all Very Happy

We set off from Sunny Rhyl at 11am on a 5 hour trip towards the wind farms

We were in front with Simon in hot pursuit

We kept the lead for a while

But not for long

Upon reaching our mark which was 5 miles out we were into the fish straight away catching Mackerel, Dabs, Whiting, and Gurnards

Tony kept the Brews coming and the hot pasties went down a treat Very Happy
(even managed to get a photo of him smiling Razz )

The fish kept coming

And so did the tangles Sad

The beads were longer than the fish but who cares geek

The rains pretty much held off until the end of our trip so we were quite lucky

Then before we knew it time was up and we were back in the harbour just after 4pm

Another great trip thanks Tony cheers

Only down side is its Monday tomorrow and it back to getting bounced around on this all week

Tripping Out With Tony Fissfgghjh038

It's proving a bit of a slog....see what I did there!
I've just invested in a parmaris gas lifejacket and a triple watch handheld vhf to back up the fixed radio so no intention of giving up on Notbad 1 but having spent more on the engine than its worth I'm not keen to spend any more on it, good strong engine when it runs but not a reliable starter and I can't relish the thought of fishing for 3 hours or so wondering if it will start come home time, come to the conclusion that a second hand engine plus a service is a long way towards just buying a new tohatsu outboard with a warranty, she came with an almost identical spare engine so I might just let an ex Navy engineer acquaintance have a go at building one good one from two possibly backing it up with a Flover Saltwater electric auxilliary, however with Winter creeping towards us I think I'll probably just park her up until The Spring and see what is in the piggy bank then.
Over the Winter I plan to move the axle back to balance the trailer, also to make a couple of other mods.
I'm thinking of building a scale model of the boat over the winter, but a suitable fibre glass model hull is about £40 for starters - Money which could just go in the engine piggybank

Oh the joys of boat ownership, those charter trips make a lot of sense!

I think they do Exclamation  For £28 you get a 5hr trip with copious amounts of tea and coffee plus hot food with a skipper who will put you straight onto the fish plus you haven't got any of the hastle of getting your boat in and out of the water and there's normally a good crowd on board especially if you book a few places and go with a bunch of mates Very Happy
Im trying to get Talkingbullhuss to come on a trip one day but he won't have it No

Tim doesn't do boats - get's the dreaded sea sickness I think!

I know it's hard to believe for the lucky ones who have good sea legs but having suffered from bad hangovers and sea sickness, I would take the hangover any day - less severe!

Now there's a challenge - if somebody on a boat offered you a joyriders table, what would you do?

Probably stay firmly sat down at all times and forget the tablet:)Smile
