Well it was that time of year me and deg's both on summer shut down ,so the plan was an all dayer some where, and the weather would decide our venue, with light winds and it dry, we headed to our favourite mark, the mark would be sheltered from the wind but not the sun.
Off we go 1st light and arrive around 06.00 in the morning to be greeted with this bas**rd sign.
We stopped and thought this is a good half mile extra on the already long walk, the thought automatically was to look for a back up venue, but could not decide where so we just went ahead with the little extra walk.
45 minutes later and we pick our spot, the 1st mission was a bucket of fresh maccie which took about 30 minutes, so one rod wire traces set for the day and the other to try for Pollock, a few hours later and we were shocked by the dimise of them at this mark, normally you can hit them on feathers and lures every cast, but today in 4 hours we only hit a few.
We then decided to get a few more maccie and ground bait the whole area with an onion sack and about 20 maccie later the bait was in the water then that was it for about 2 hours down to low water with masses of dogs taking the big tope bait until deg's gets a better bite and this.
A good double.
then smack on low water I get a take on the big bait, let it run and hung on for dear life for about 5 minutes until it spat the bait and was gone. gutted I sat down, then degs gets a big pull down he lets it run then strikes and after a few minutes it reaches the surface and tope on, then what happened next was unreal it spits the bait and as deg's winds it in the tope chase's it along the top of the water, and as it nears the shore line it turns away and dives back down to Davey jones locker.
A quick rebait and alas they were gone, so we sat back and again tried for the Pollock and degs gets the best and last of the day.
Come 18.00 me and degs's thoughts were the sun and the tope have had the better of us this time but we'll be back again for another go, so of we set and an hour later arrived back at the car 2 litres of water lighter, and it's only another half mile slog with the parking but what a killer.
This morning woke up aching and im thinking never again for what we got a lot of people would be made up, but for the lack of sharp hooks we've only got ourselve's to blame. so unbeaten I think we'll be going back sooner rather than later.
