Here as promised are the photos from my trip to Keiss in Sinclairs Bay only few miles S/E from John O Groats
My home made tripod still working well

The beach is quite similar in size to that of Penmeanmawr and i had it all to myself
This little feller was caught on a lug bait tipped off with some Herring
Sadly this was the only fish of the day
but he swam off to fight another day
The weather was ok when I started to fish and the sea had a tidy little surf going on
but as the tide came further up the beach an easterly wind came with it and brought a mixture of rain and snow
and the sea got much rougher
The water up here never seems to get that dirty colour no matter how rough it gets
With the changing state of the tide and for my last hour I changed tactics and put a larger bait on to a pulley rig and try'd my luck
A Sandeel and Herring cocktail
It didn't help though
WW2 Tank obstacles line the beach, a reminder of the threat of a Nazi invasion from Norway.
The beach was also one big mine field which took two years to clear after the war and i couldn't help thinking 'I hope they didn't miss any' as I was treading as lightly as possible across the sands
Sandy beaches here are few, its a very rugged coast line dotted with cliff top castles about to tumble into the sea like this one,
Sinclairs Castle
So with a fish caught and another beach conquered the intrepid explorer is looking forward to the next adventure where ever that may be
And hopefully get more than one Dab
Cheers Dave.
