Venue - Kinmel Bay
Tide - High
Time - Day
Bait: Fresh Lug
Date: 4th May 2009

If Channel 5 have comissioned another series of 'Extreme Fishing with Robson Green' then they should consider Kinmel Bay over high with a strong Westerly and sideways rain.

Exhilarating conditions are fantastic!
The fishing is more difficult, with wind and rain complicating matters, but that warm glow and rosy cheeks are what it is all about.
The only real frustrating thing is that the photo's never capture the drama of it all.

The Maeastro and I braved the conditions for a few hours over high.
There was a small amount of weed about and when it found the line, my rigs and 6oz grippers were sent Eastwards.
I would describe it as just about fishable.

A large Grey Seal gave me the fright of my life by surfacing in the inner gully, which on tonights tide was just 20yds out. I've never seen one so close in here before and I think he was a bit surprised too. He let out a Scooby Doo-esque yelp before disappearing to no doubt continue his fishing.

Mehmet and I continued with ours.
I'd imagine the Seal fared better than us though.

Happy Days!!!

like i said mike. SW wind at kinmel bay doesn't produce fish even though you get a perfect looking surf. at least you're getting out though

Well done on getting out there
wished i had known i to was at Kinmel Bay last night, but up at the far end of Sunnyvale. I would have joined you for a natter.
I also had the same result as you but fair to say i did have one stonking knock, was sure it had been hooked but not to be. The weed closer to the river was full on. W will keep trying that big silver is not far away.

A passing Castwatch operative did inform me of 2 fishing Sunnyvale!

Glad to hear that you had a bit of excitement.

As you say, we'll keep trying Smile
