Carp were of course raised in monk ponds for food 100s of years ago, not fashionable now with your average brit, but is this perhaps a reflection ( no pun intended) of the changing market with an influx of Europeans who I believe eat fresh water fish as a regular thing ( there eere reports of varpbeing taken f or eating from commercial fisheries ) stewpond raised carp for food probably makes sense really, unusual though it seems to most of us.
