Had my grandson staying over the weekend and we changed the line on my bass reels (sloshes) so he kept mothering to go fishing all day so we went for A couple of hrs x1 down x2 up we took the bait pump along to get some fresh worm me pumping him gutting + collecting the worm, set the rods up + started pumping bait (hate these big tides) it empties the best gullies + moves the fish managed to pick A spot were there was still around x2-4ft of water in the gully as we were pumping there were some turns diving along the banks at the back of the gully probably feeding on sand eels or shrimp soon had about 40+ big plump lug worms so put one rod over onto the bank about 60 yards was just baiting the other and looked up the century flattie rod was bouncing then bent right over
picked up the rod and I was in the fish was kiting over to the left + was A good fish on A tight line with the rod doubled over the hook pulled after about x2mins checked the hook perfect the only thing I can put it down to was I only using x2 oz plain lead and it must not of set the hook proper so A quick change to A 2oz grip lead on one rod + A x3oz grip lead on the other I soon had the baits back out had A dog fish on the rod in the gully after about 10 mins then A good pull down on the distance rod over on the back of the gully missed
I moved the other rod into the gully as the tide was flooding this produced another dog fish eddythefly came down for A chat as we were talking I had A eel around x2lb Nearly forgot also had A sea gull it flew into my line this made my grandson fall of the box laughing
as it was pecking me as I untangled it not A bad few hrs ended up with x2 dog fish x1 eel + lost A good fish + sunny shine
