Having gunge round your tacle is not good, my wife used to say similar once over, seem to remember.

I understand that as the algae dies it drags C02 out of the air and buries it on the sea bed so think of it as a kind of climate change solution,

mind you it farts C02 when its alive and strips oxygen out of the water as it decays so it can sod off.
