Me and degs had a few options for over xmas one was the northeast and the other down south with a backup of the mersey.
Well the snow and ice put paid to all them choices so yesterday we decided a bit of scratching down to the island.
What reports we had seen wern't very promosing so we headed down to the shit pipe over high to see if there were any coalies about.
Got there and fair play not a bad swell on.
Just set up one rod each deg's opted for a pulley and myself a 2 hook flapper with all manner of baits. deg's was first in with a bullhead and a dog before he got a shore rockling.
I had a good slack liner and a bit of a run which saw a good fish spit the hook and gone. my only consulation was a shore rockling.
After a few more bitless hours we decided to move and headed up to penrhyn mawr.
Walked what seemed for ever after getting lost in the fog. we found our spot and again fished single rods till we got any sign of fish.
First in was deg's with a whiting.
Then after losing what i think was two good conger i was rewarded with a three beard rockling.
after this it was a case of two rod's various baits. big losses tackle wise we decided enough was enough and time for home.
Then golden bollocks has a decent bite and the thought's were here come the dog's again only for him to pull in a not bad fish.
With this we deide to give it another hour. in this hour the dogs started so we sacked it and headed home.
On reflection with the way reports and the weather have been of late.at least we had got out and caught.
