Regretably I never sailed in any of these vessels A great picture Tony. I would be gutted to walk onto the beach with my rods and discover 1000's of people spoiling my peace and quiet |

- War Memorial hospital
I remember just before it was demolished, there were scenes from a film being shot there. My dad used to buy sausages from Worthings butchers on Vale Road. He was reliably informed that James Mason also bought sausages from there whilst stayingin Rhyl and working on this film. For years we always referred to the sausages as 'James Masons'. What was the film though?? PS I don't know the answer to this one. Maybe are resident historians could shed some light. |

The Shooting party, it was the last film he made. Some of the cast stayed at the Millbank which at the time was run by a certain Mr Skeffington. Only a few scenes were shot here, Strange thing is I've just looked up the details of the film and it was released in 1985, three years after the hospital was demolished????
By the way it's an excellent film well worth a look. Cheers Tony |

| I spent a couple of happy summers working on the mini-motorbikes that used to operate in the 'skateboard' tubes adjacent to the skating rink(and next to Les Harkers Cosy Corner which I guess was situated on the nice little grassy patch in your photo Tony) I worked for Terry Henley. A great bloke! |

| I don't know what the house is called.
Currently St Davids nursing home.
A guess at it's original usage would be.......... A hospital?
Again, another fine property! |

| Another great photo.
Despite Tony's explanation, I still can't get my bearings.
The property being built, is it still around today? |

Looking closely I think the house on the right is on the corner of Paradise Street. The newer property could be the key to this. Find that and we may have cracked it! (assuming it is still standing ) Thats this weeks challange............. Post a current photo from the same perspective. |

- The guy on the right up the ladder was actually a one armed window cleaner called Volta, he'd been a lion tamer, and got his arm bitten off. He moved to Rhyl and took work cleaning windows, he had an assistant from his circus days , a peg legged dwarf called Cosmo. He used to ring out his cloth for him.
You are a mine of information Tony Keep it coming!!! |
