Was supposed to go the blue bridge sat morn with mal & co but due to the mrs been intoxicated friday night i didnt make it . I also had an offer to go to borth today but with a party sat night and the clocks going forward that was put on hold too.
So my only option was a few hour's today to use my bait up. so headed local with lug maddies and a tesco ramming mackeral.
Set up 2 rod's with 2 hook flappers one with maddies and the other maccie tipped lug. got to the mark 3 hours before so i could fish the run hoping the codling would be there. fished the maddies at distance hoping for a dab or a fluke and the other close in.
straight away little rattles close in and a small codling.
that was it for half hour just the odd small codling every now and again. with the far out rod silent. next option was to get some fresh mussel drying. brought both rod's in changed to one up 2 down's size 1 nordic bend's loaded with lug and mussle and cast both short.
the it was tap tap tap on both rod's choosing to leave the bite's and hook them self.
at this they started coming in at two shot's on both rod's.
some were tiny and a few 1lb - 1lb and a half this lasted for a good hour and as soon as the run slowed up they stopped.
fished the slack both out with maddies hoping for a flattie. to no avail and as soon as it started to flood the codling started again. so sacked it about an hour in and home nice and early.
ended up with 16 in all. cost 73p bait and a nat's piss of petrol very happy.
