Venue Hall Road, Merseyside
Date 10 January 2009
Time 20:00 - 23:30 High Tide
Weather Just above freezing, strong wind, big waves
Bait Rag, Lug, Squid, Mac, Prawns, kitchen sink

Codandchips persuaded me to join him on a trip to foreign lands in search of the cod to go with his chips. He heard of a meet n greet on another forum at this location, spookily similar to the Rhyl easy-access venue but without the flashy light ...

http://www.wirralseafishing.co.uk/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11352

The result ... yet another blank between me and cod and chips, only 4 rockling caught between around 40 rods. The locals were saying sea was too rough. Several, including codandchips, got a soaking from the waves.

Great to be out again. Watching a good choppy sea is nearly as good as catching fish. Interesting to see that it is not just North Wales fishing poorly at the moment.

Would fish this mark again, although not one I would do on my own at night.

Nice report Ian.

Fishing's great isn't it!
Too calm, too rough, too cold, too mild, the windfarm, algae bloom.................

My list of available excuses is growing by the day Smile

It was 7deg C - tha's 8deg warmer than when we went to Rhyl!

I've had drier nights but then again I've had wetter nights at Colwyn Bay

lol!

Are you talking about the water temperature ?? I wouldn't know that because I was not foolish enough to stand by the railings.

I know you like open water swimming ... but middle of january ? ... at night ? Brrrrr! affraid
