I'm giving whip fishing a try.I've elasticated the top section.
Lugging a load of tackle around gets on my nerves,Haha.
The whip is telescopic and weighs next to nothing.
Any float will do the deed, and I've got enough to refloat the ark.
Five minutes to set up,even less to pack up.
Perfect on canals and with the elastic it will handle decent sized fish.

Not being a freshwater angler I had to google that method. Not heard of it before.

Looks a good ultra light setup. Few spots I can think of where it could be possible to fish for mackerel or mullet.

You could find it a bit restrictive because the max length of line is as long
as the whip itself. So if your whip is 5 metres and held out horizontally, you will only have 5 metres of line, which includes the portion below the float that is underwater.
They have the line as long as the whip so you can swing a fish in directly to your hand so you can unhook it.
I find a spinning rod and a fixed spool reel best for mackerel.30lb braid and a mono feather leader.
I can see a whip being useful for mullet if you are not too far above the water.Even then, the top secton will need to be elasticated to handle the strength of a mullet,or the whip will snap.
Hope I have given you some food for thought before you buy one. lol!
