I use a Shakespeare Salt tripod which is great but weighs a ton, I use sand spikes when possible. Does anyone have a lighter/ cheaper alternative to the Salt.

wrote a long reply and lost before saving so just a quick reply.

I have one of those
its still useable after a lot of abuse and some bush engineering I got rid of the leg braces afterone broke and a bit of aluminium bar on pipeclips instead.

Now has a spliced leg too its a mess but useable and the weight is an advantage sometimes.

I now have a seconhand Ian Golds one. Little previous use and I saved money.

Spares are available I believe so that should mean longevity and I like it.

I also have a cheap unbranded one - spares not available so it might end up being cannibalised to repair the salt one!

I'm happy with the Ian Golds.
