With the reports of Tope being caught and the weather gods playing ball Paul and myself hatched a plan and headed down the Llyn Peninsula. I was visiting Anglesey the day before so popped to HHBW for some fresh bait
Just over 40 Herring in a little over an hour giving us plenty and some
We didn’t have an exact location in mind so this was a bit of a reccy
Arrived at the remote parking location and stated the long walk / climb
I’m definitely going to lighten my rucksack on our next session.
Weighed my fishing rucksack tonight and it’s and it was over 2 stone or 14kg
Arrived at the mark and set up for about 9.45am and we where fishing high down. Conditions looked good
Big bait was the order of the day
One hour in and Paul landed your first fish of the day
With a nice strap of about 2lbs
Nothing for a while all we could do was sit back and soak up the unusual for the time of year warm summer like weather.
3hrs in and my rod had finally indicated some action struck into it and it was snagged but I could feel that a good fish was still connected
After a 30mins stalemate
BOOM!!!
Not the Tope we had come for but a new PB fish for be at 13lbs 12oz happy days
We packed up at 4pm and made the 180 meter ascent after another enjoyable session. With more fishing knowledge under our belts.
