Talking to some old Army pals the other day and the subject of the cold war medal (or lack of) came up, the fact is every other country in the world that was involved has issued one to their troops so why shouldn't we get one for ours

My Dad was for a time on the Murmansk run to Russia (CPO RN Regular)Destroyers.

Russia offered Britain medals for years to the brave lads that were on that run.

Britain wouldn't allow the medals to be sent over,we tried for years to get one,but never did.

He got sunk in the Med,and washed ashore in Italy,he took over the servicing port for the MTB's that were
used around Malta.
He had(which I have got) a Silver medal off the King for shooting a Lee Enfield .303 at a mile.
Sad day when we lost him.
