Is that the usual tactic there? |

Is that the usual tactic there? Yeah...i use clipped down rigs early on to reach the channel, but it does`nt take long until i change to 2 hook flappers.....get a dry week and a neap tide and it should fish well....one of the few marks i know of where 3lb+ plaice are a possibility. |

Great thanks for that, Rekindles thoughts of fishing several different locations one after the other, chasing the tide times and a good ebb venue could fit into a plan nicely! |

| I followed the river Alt to the coast (Near you in St Helens) It comes out just below Altcar military ranges. I tried to launch my boat but a couple of guys said it was private. The river looks pretty good for flatties, near the sea there are sandbars etc. I planned to go back, but never made it.

| The Alt seems to be fishing well during this dry spell....usually find the ebb fishes much better than the flood.... One of the lads had this report today. After a few weeks without wetting a line I thought I'd give the Alt a go. Fished a plain 3 oz lead, going up to 4 when the ebb started properly along with a two hook flapper with fine wire size 4's with 2" pieces of frozen lug tipped with small pieces of mackerel. Fished 2hrs up and 1hr down the 3.10pm high, with fish from the off. Most of the fish came from the furthest side of the channel. A few of them gave a nice little scrap on my Anyfish 4&bait especially when they're coming in almost under your feet, although some of the bites were so delicate it was hard to know if it was a fish. All a nice stamp with the biggest bang on 1lb Ended up with 10 flounder and still getting bites as I packed up. |
