Christmas meet

Though I cannot see myself in the photos, I did attend the Christmas meet, though I have to admit to starting at 5am (your 4pm dec 30th).
The fishing was much better here than there, so was the weather. About 16C, 2/10 cloud, perfectly still and a small surf of 2ft with water clearing from dirty the day before, high tide at 8-40 perfect! Lines out at 9-15am and home for coffee.
No pictures of the rock, only the fish, which very sportingly volunteered to help with 2 parties we attended last night



Sorry the Kahawai are headless, saves carrying all that weight over the hill, and digging a big hole in the garden









I put 2 undersize snapper back.

Just before I finished I lost a big rig shark, smoothhound or spotted dogfish (Mustelus lenticulata), of 10 to 12 lbs, the biggest one I have seen there, snapped the trace trying to lift it on to the rock.
They can get to be 40lb.

You have my sympathy Rhod, it must be awful fishing in those conditions.
