PostSubject: Plastic pollution   Plastic pollution EmptySat Nov 18, 2017 5:23 pm

Most of us are aware of plastics getting in the marine food chain.
We can help a little by taking a bit home every time we see some.
Many fishers here use other forums , so can they post and pass on
This message can any mods make some sort of sticky to get the message out to all.
Thanks for reading

PostSubject: Re: Plastic pollution   Plastic pollution EmptySat Nov 18, 2017 8:49 pm

I was reading earlier this week that a chain of children's nurseries have stopped using glitter because the stuff gets loose, gets into the water via laundry etc and ends up in the food chain and is almost impossible to filter out.

Not sure if the sort of cleaning soaps that have little plastic beads in them to help scrub are still available but these microbeads also get into the sewers and from there were being found in sea fish, there was a move to replace the use of microbeads with alternatives such as small gratings of orange peel.

Plastic bags, the plastic thing that's holds four drinks cans together etc all carry their hazards, let's all do our bit.

Every little helps!
