Venue:PensarnDay: Saturday eveningTide:2 Hrs down to low + 2 Hrs upBait:Fresh lug & frozen mackeralTarget Species:Fish After buying a new rod in January I've been itching to to try it out and finally managed to borrow a fixed spool reel to go with it (I'm a try before you buy kind of guy). Now that the new kitchen is finished, daughters room decorated and re-furnished I had no excuse but to say yes when my lad, Tom told me we were going fishing - he's as big as me now and can be quite persuasive.......
Weather was fine, wind moderate and waves breaking from the east (might be me but never a good sign).
Set up and cast in by the pipes. First cast my rod tip dipped and the rod jumped in the rest - blood rushing, I grabbed it only to realise a seagull had flown into my line. Next cast, nothing. On the turn we both had some small bites but nothing hooked. An hour into the flood Tom had a rattle but no fish again.
Neither of us had waders so we left before the tide pushed in too deep behind us.
So in all, not a bad night. Didn't catch our target species, but avoided Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor which is a result (isn't it?).
