A trip out on my yak was in order last week, i wanted to make the most of the summer like days we were having so Thursday was the day, i fancied a change of scenery so Trevor it was. Had a nice easy launch, drove straight onto the beach, unloaded and away i went, i went left and headed towards the crack in the mountain down the coast, i stopped on-route to feather for macky but i couldn't find any, so i anchored about 1/2 a mile off on some mixed ground, with scenery like this i wouldn't of cared if i'd caught nothing,but...
the dogs were out in force and i managed to catch and loose plenty of good sized huss in between, i also had a couple of pollack on the way back in.
It was a cracking day to be out and chilling on the water Will try and post a video once i get time to edit it all, bought myself a new waterproof video camera that i tried out, need to get my head round it 1st! Apologies for the date time etc on the pics, need to get rid of that

Here's my 1st attempt at a video, it's not the best but it's ok, there's no sound or music so it might be a bit boring! I need to get a proper fixing on the yak for the video camera as well

Great to watch Dan, those self-unhooking huss make it easier don`t they.

It sure does, it takes years of practice to be able to unhook them before they thrash around on the deck, honest

Great video Dan,for a first attempt I'd say you did great. Did you get down as far as Birdxxit rock?it's supposed to be a good Tope mark. We camped at Aberafon, there's a free slip there. For the mackerel we turned right from the slip towards Dinas, about 1/2 a mile out and 1/2 a mile from the slip. Bit of a trek back to the rock in a kayak.

Not sure where bird rock is? Is it the 1st headland on the left? I went left past the 1st headland, then up the length of trevor beach and stopped at the next headland before pistyll, must of been a couple of miles, it was further than I thought, didn't take long to get back though because I was riding the tide! I'm all for natural power now I have to row

It's about a mile from Trevor pier down towards Pystyl, the rock is white with bird droppings, and you can hear the birds from quite a way off. The water is deep green and eerie looking. It spooked me a bit the first time we went. The venue was given to us by a guy off Anglsea. The Tope are about 200yds offshore from the rock. The fishing was pretty good 1/4 of a mile out from Aberafon campsite, the water was as clear as a bell, you could see the big well rounded boulders about 30ft down. The launch from the campsite is over sand, with two marker poles showing the way out. There's a coldwater tap on the slipway, and the toilet block is the best I've seen on a campsite. It's very popular with divers at peak times.

Well done Dan, Pleased to see you have a decent reel there, is it a sealine 30SH, I use the 50s for surfcasting here, and the 30s and a 20 for the boat. Well done on the fishing

Cheers, it's a 20 model, it's getting a bit squeaky these days, it needs a service! They last years and are good reels, as you know. There must be some serious fish over there for you to use the 50
