After half an hour we had are first pike run on
a float fished smelt but it dropped the bait Sad
So I cast another smelt to the same spot
and waited.  Sleep

After an hour or so my float started to move across
the surface then it disappeared FISH ON! cheers  fish

It weighed 11lb on the dot cheers Cole was even
more chomping at the bit to catch one now. He changed
from a sprat which is what I caught last weeks pike on
to a smelt and to his credit he caught one Rock on  cth

Triumphed again Steve, nice one.Cole looks more than pleased with himself.
Looks like the big girls are beefing up for the breeding season,so it's going to get better.
Might be time to try a nice oily bait, sardine or mackerel and catch that 30lb specimen.
Sardine are hard to keep on without elastic, but the oil spread is great.
Nice one

I've been pike since I was 10 and have used sardine's loads for times
without catching a single pike Sad so I stick to ones I've done well with
over the years in sprats and smelts cheers but do know a few lads
who have caught pike on sardines and love using them it's odd scratch

Can you still drive thro' the park gates and go down the dirt road and park at the gate?
I noticed a few container type buildings in your pics that weren't there last time I was.
How far is it to cart your gear from where you park?
As you know,I've got a wonky foot and it does me in walking and carting my gear.
Those pegs look pretty comfortable.
