PostSubject: Fishing trip   Fishing trip EmptyThu Mar 02, 2017 11:25 am

Thinking of a fishing trip, just for the day this coming Saturday. I may go and fish the Mersey but I am itching to get on Anglesey for a change of scenery. Think I'm all Mersey'd out now.
Any recommendations? Will have James so nothing too dodgy ie heavy climbing on rocks etc.

Id give broad beach Rhosneigr, or Tyn Tywyn a go.

Chance of rays or huss, probably small bass and possibly a coalie or two.

Both sandy beaches so ok for James too.

If you are feeling that adventurous, and fancy Rhosneigr,I know a spot.
If you head for the beach from the main crossroads in Rhosneigr, then turn right at the beach
go past the little head towards the sandhills, there is a little river that runs thro from Valley.
When the tide is out,it leaves a sandbar.when the tide is coming in,it covers the sandbar.
I have walked up the river from the sea (in the summer)only 200yds at the most.
There were loads of young flatties flying in all directions, and of course, where there are flatties,
there are predators coming in over the sandbar.
The other place is to fish off the bridge at 4 mile bridge, when the tide is coming in the outlet
on the Rhosneigr side, the bass follow it in.
I watched two old locals float fishing that side last year, they were pulling tiddlers out on the other side of the bridge next to the wall, then putting the tiddlers on under the float on the other side. They had 4 or 5 bass.
There's a slipway next to the bridge if you fancy beach fishing, dead easy access.
If you go over the bridge, there is a little shop on the right where you can park.
Certainly an interesting spot,if nothing else.
Tight lines.

Heyup lad, thought I had better let you know you can get cut off by the tide at that spot at Rhosneigr.
If you want to access it through the sandhills a few hundred yards further up from the crossroads (heading for Valley direction)
There is a pathway to the sandhills between the new properties. You can park at the top of the path. That way you won't get cut off by the tide, and it brings you out where the stream meets the sea.
I suggest you google it,and also 4 mile bridge.
4 mile bridge crosses the inland sea,the tide comes in from both directions,Holyhead and Rhosneigr.
There's a tunnel under the bridge that helps equalise the water, quite a sight for your lad if he hasn't seen it.
