Very sad, I caught my first fish off there and fished regularly with my grandad  there. Our club is named from the pier, Colwyn Bay Victoria, and all our matches used to be fished off it in the 50`s and 60`s. the council could have rescued it years ago, for less money than it will now cost to get rid of it. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I've thought for years, what a shame to let it go.I remember it in the late 50's early 60's.
It was a great place to fish off.
They spent a fortune on the new slip and buildings,I thought the pier might be on the list.
Clever council planning,Haha, they have turned Rhyl centre into a ghost town.
No point in turning these places into huge parking cash cow zones if there are no attractions left to visit.
Looking back,Rhyl and Colwyn bay were great for a family day out,but now, there's not much left.
People bypass them on the A55,and go further on.
Surely seaside towns depend on summer tourism, seems like welsh councils have a death wish.

At the bottom of that news item,it says,in 2015, the Welsh Government said the pier is not to be demolished.
With the cuts to council spending it's obvious that the council has had to shelve the idea.
Surely if the Welsh Government can see the value and heritage of it as a tourist attraction,
then it should be brought back to it's former glory.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to approach them for a grant?
Although it is a local attraction,it is also a Northern attraction,I don't know anybody who hasn't
visited it over the years.
I would personally be at the front of the queue to sign a petitition to have it renovated.
The councils seem so intent on parking fines, with double yellow lines everywhere, people drive past and go elsewhere, with no access to the attractions only the locals will be left to
Pay the fines, great bit of town management.
They have done the same at Rhyl.I can remember Rhyl and Colwyn bay being a hive of
tourist activity,an aiming point for a day out, they are turning them into ghost towns.
A crying shame in my book.

They are going to ruin the place, going for a day out these days is like driving through a
parking and speedtrap minefield.
I'm all for safety, but it's obvious the public is becoming a cashcow for the council coffers.
What was a relaxing drive and day out has become a mental nightmare.
