| Did you check out The Marina Stevo? There's loads of resident barges on there at the moment,so probably no ice. I imagine the pike would be under the barges.Plenty of bits chucked in off the barges. Some big pike came out on a regular basis in the summer. I might give it a go with a jigged sprat under a clear bubble float. It's easy access to the marina, straight across from Tesco at the lights. I can't wander with my bad foot, and it's a bit cold to sit there like a frozen dummy. |

They have got sprats in tesco at the moment, super cheap for a bucket full. I've got a few half kgs in the bottom drawer of my freezer ready for sea fishing. From what I can gather,Pike slow down in the winter, and don't go for spinners. That bubble float method lets you set the depth, and retrieve or stop slowly,so a lazy Pike doesn't need to chase a spinner. |

I might give the bullshead a go over the weekend The weather is looking ok for the weekend (at the moment) Steve. I've got frozen bags of hempseed and barley I made up for groundbait.I saved the liquid to add to groundbait. I've had some success with it in the past. I found if you can keep it in a small area and fish over it the fish stay over it. Tench love it.Good luck at weekend. |
