Had a couple of hours at Carsethorn this afternoon fishing the first half of the flood hoping for my first fish of the year
About 5 minutes into my first cast the rod tip twitched then stopped then twitched again but with a little more vigor before stopping again and remaining completely static for what seemed an eternity but in reality was probably about a minute before it bounced some more
Fish on
I wound in feeling nothing on the end apart from the 4oz sinker
After a dozen or so turns of the handle I could feel the wieght gradually increase, I was expecting it to be just a bit of weed that I'd wound into but to my delight a little Dab popped to the surface and was skitting it's way towards me well and truly hooked
After this success hopes were high but cast after cast proved fruitless until I had one worm left so with this I made my last cast....
It wasn't long before the rod tip bounced as before only this time the rattles kept coming so without delay I took up the rod and wound in feeling the extra wieght almost immediately as the fish left the bottom and was being pulled in against the rising flow of the flooding tide
Another Dab and only slightly larger than the first
I was well chuffed with the catch and at last my species hunt of 2017 has finally been launched
(Thanks for the advice Paul and Dee x)
