I recall we have an "expert" on this forum on fishing this pier.

More of a landing stage than a pier, it's in front of the Victoria Dock apartments near Morrisons and is a handy little spot for fishing the Straits over High. Access is easy on to the top deck of the central bit.

It's free!

There is a strong tide pull when the water is running,
I've had fun with the minis straight down the side and even had a trout there on a spinner once ( I hesitate to call it a sea trout it didn't look very well and a few had been washed out of the nearby River Seiont at the time). Big Mullet inhabit the nearby dock ( no fishing inside the dock) and occasionally show near the pier, a couple showed interest in a fly I tried there.
The chandlers in the dock sell bait ( there is another tackle shop up town) and there is always Morrisons fish counter!

thanks for the ideas, I will first try my old never fail secret spot, but that was 50 years ago, who knows what is left after all the small fish have been caught and educated by members of this forum. how can we expect to catch any decent fish when they have been taught what a hook is many times over.
If I don't catch anything I can always blame the weather.
If all I catch is a cold, you probably will not hear from me again. Adios Amigos
I am sorry not to have caught up with you Dave, maybe you should come to NZ one day.

thanks all, off to Bangor in the rain this morning, not sure if I can post from my phone, I will give it a try, if not it will be when I get back to the civilised world at the end of the week.
The weather does not look too bad, as Paul knows I can stand a bit of rain!
