Anybody know when the mackerel start to disperse to deep water?
One way or another I have had a few setbacks in getting out this summer, first the boat, then the car and hospital appointments.
With a bit of luck I might get a chance to have a go before the season ends.
With getting on a bit I'm forced to be a "Fairweather fisherman"
I'm still 21 in my head,so it's a hard bullet to bite lol!

I phoned Chris at Ronnies on the straits,he said they pack up in October for the winter. He's a nice guy,I told him about my dodgey foot, and asked if I could stay in the boat while he launched it,also that it was the boats trial and my first launch.
He said no problem, and if I come unstuck he would get the rib out and tow me in.

Only ended up with half a dozen Mackerel in the end although they were there in their hundreds and they were darting all over the place after the Whitebait but they seemed to be able to tell the difference between them and my feathers all to well Neutral
Not to worry though as I only stopped on my way home from some shopping when I saw some lads pulling them in and I remembered I had a rod in the car Very Happy
A bonus session is a bonus session after all lol!

That happy face tells it all Very Happy
Don't the joeys hang about until they have grown a bit?
When you say white bait,is it sandeels?
I knew what the weather was like,I used that A55 webcam that Dogger put on.
Sunday looks a nice day,not much wind and sunny.I'll see if our kid fancies a trip tomoz.
Might try a mackerel spinner if they are ignoring the feathers.
I've fished a spinner under a bubble float and had some success.
Had a go at Llandulas a couple of years ago,the float keeps the bait above the rocks.
I'll check the tides,no point in fishing if there's no water. lol!

Whitebait is immature fry which can be lots of different species but in the UK it's most commonly Sprats or Herring I believe study

That's handy to know,thanks.
I lived in Oz in the 60's,and their white bait was squid and cuttlefish tentacles.
We made 4 pronged forks out of welding rods and used snorkels and masks.
Had to lob the cuttlefish on the jetty where one of the lads would turn them belly down
before you got covered in ink.
If someone shouted "Shark"we looked like MTB's heading for the jetty, happy days.
cheers
Went out in Adelaide with some Aussies shark fishing, they took an old sheep, killed it on the boat and threaded a cable through it and trolled it behind the boat.
The cable started twanging like a guitar string. Then out came the 303 Lee Enfields, there were sharks everywhere they blasted a few and started a feeding frenzy.
I couldn't help thinking"do we need a bigger boat" lol!
